Swedish as a Foreign language for international students studying individual programs or courses at the University of Gothenburg.
The courses in Swedish language is offered as an additional service to your study here at the University of Gothenburg. The aim is to offer you a chance to learn basic Swedish and thereby enable you to make more out of your stay in Gothenburg. By learning Swedish, you will increase your employability in Sweden. The courses offered this autumn term is Beginner (step 1), Basic User (step 2) and Independent User course (step 3).
University of Gothenburg is here adapting the EuroPass scheme – this is a self-evaluation enabling you to decide if you are eligible to apply to the Beginners course or to the Basic User’s course. You can find more information about the EuroPass here: http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/.
When will the course run?
All classes are offered in the evenings between 17.15-20.00 in order not to overlap with your daytime study programs. Once admitted to the course you will be accepted to one group, with classes one day a week. The exact dates and place will be given after you are admitted to the course. Each course consists of 10 seminars of approximately three hours, in total 30 hours.
During Autumn Term 2012, there are courses available for freemover students, i.e. students with overseas qualifications who have applied to the university outside the established exchange programs and exchange agreements. The places are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. In order to apply to the course you must be admitted and registered on a program at the University of Gothenburg.
We will use the following course literature at step 1 and step 2: Rivstart A1 A2 Textbok, (P. Levy Scherrer & Karl Lindemalm, Natur & Kultur).
Step 3: Rivstart B1 B2 Textbok, (P. Levy Scherrer & Karl Lindemalm, Natur & Kultur).
We offer a certificate to students accepted to the course if the student attend 75% of the seminars as well as participate in the final evaluation.
To register for a place on a course in the Swedish language, please register on this website. First, register on our list of interest. Then at the end of January, after regular registration, you will get your registration information. When you get that mail you follow the link attached in order to register. The courses are given on a weekly basis and you follow your group/day of the week throughout the course.
